About My Mission Path
What is My Mission Path?
My Mission Path is a free 52-week program designed to help you come unto Christ, deepen your testimony, and be fully prepared to serve a full-time mission. Based on the official Missionary Preparation Manual, it guides you through scripture study (including a cover-to-cover Book of Mormon reading plan), gospel teaching practice, personal reflection, and daily habits that strengthen your faith. Think of it as a companion for the most important preparation of your life — organized, guided, and always available.
Is this an official Church resource?
No. My Mission Path is an independent resource built by members who care about mission preparation. It's not an official website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For official resources, visit ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. It's completely free.
Do I need to have my mission call already?
No. You can start preparing months or even a year before your call. The program adapts to wherever you are in the process. Some people use it before they're sure they're going. That's totally fine.
About the AI Features
What are the AI features?
My Mission Path includes optional AI-powered practice tools designed to help you build confidence before the real thing:
- Practice Teaching — Teach gospel concepts to realistic AI characters — each with their own name, personality, and backstory. Choose a scenario like tracting with Sarah (a tired suburban mom), discussing the Restoration with Marcus (spiritual but not religious), or answering tough questions from Aisha (a sharp sociology grad student).
- Skill Practice — Work through 10 core missionary skills with AI characters who react like real people you'd meet at the door.
- Mission Readiness — Build confidence, manage nerves, and develop healthy habits with Rachel, your AI mission readiness coach.
- Language Practice — Optionally practice your mission language with a conversational AI tutor.
- Gospel Q&A Search — Ask gospel questions and explore AI-generated responses that reference official Church resources. Always verify with the source.
All of these are optional. You can use the program without ever touching the AI features.
Is the AI a substitute for real scripture study?
Absolutely not. The AI is a practice tool — a safe place to build confidence before real conversations. It's not an authoritative source of doctrine. Always rely on the scriptures, living prophets, and your own personal revelation. The AI exists to help you practice, not to teach you truth.
Can I turn off AI features?
Yes. Go to Settings and toggle off AI features. Everything else works without them — lessons, journaling, tasks, skills, all of it.
Is there a usage limit?
Yes. You get 200 AI messages per day. That's plenty for a good practice session. The AI remembers what you've practiced before — it saves a summary of each session so it can build on your progress next time.
About the Logo ("The Completed Hive")
What does the logo mean?
The logo is called "The Completed Hive." It tells the story of your preparation — and the name is the destination, not where you start. The hive becomes complete as you do the work.
The Hexagon (outer shape)
The hexagon is inspired by Deseret — the honeybee. In the Book of Mormon, the Jaredites carried honey bees (deseret) with them to the promised land (Ether 2:3). For Latter-day Saints, the beehive has always symbolized industry, cooperation, and collective effort. The hexagon represents the hive — the community you're joining and the important work you're committing to.
The Gap (the small opening)
Look closely and you'll see the hexagon isn't fully closed. There's a deliberate gap — a single break in the structure. That gap represents your preparation — it's not finished yet. You're in the process of growing, learning, and becoming ready. The hive becomes complete as you put in the work.
The Spark
The gold spark inside represents the tools and guidance built into My Mission Path — lessons, practice exercises, language tools, and AI coaching. But it's just a spark — it doesn't replace your effort, your faith, or the Spirit. It's there to help you fill the gap and become who the Savior is preparing you to be.
Why a hexagon and not just a beehive?
The hexagon is cleaner, more modern, and more versatile as a logo. But it carries the same symbolism — the shape of the hive, the building block of collective work. It's you, fitting into something bigger than yourself.
Book of Mormon & Scripture Study
Does the program include Book of Mormon reading?
Yes — and it's a central part of the experience. My Mission Path includes a 52-week cover-to-cover reading plan that takes you through all 239 chapters of the Book of Mormon, from 1 Nephi to Moroni. Each week's assignment links directly to Gospel Library, and your progress is tracked on a dedicated Book of Mormon page with chapter-by-chapter and book-by-book progress bars.
Why is the Book of Mormon so important to missionary preparation?
The Book of Mormon is the keystone of the restored gospel. Joseph Smith taught that a person would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book. Missionaries carry it with them always and use it to teach, testify, and invite others to come unto Christ. Reading it cover to cover before your mission helps you build a personal testimony and become familiar with the stories and doctrines you'll be sharing every day.
Can I see my Book of Mormon progress?
Absolutely. The dashboard features a Book of Mormon card showing your current book, chapters read, and a visual representation of all 15 books. There's also a full dedicated page (accessible from the sidebar) with detailed progress for each book, a 52-week reading grid, and links to Gospel Library for every assignment.
Getting Started
How do I start?
Create a free account, go through the quick onboarding setup, and you'll land on your dashboard with your personalized 52-week timeline. From there, just pick your first lesson and get going. You can move through lessons, tasks, and skills at whatever pace feels right.
Can I go at my own pace?
Yes. The program suggests a weekly pace (13 lessons over 52 weeks), but you can toggle "Flexible Mode" in Settings to move through content however you'd like — faster, slower, jumping around. It's your preparation.
For Parents & Leaders
What is Explorer mode?
Explorer mode lets parents, ward leaders, and anyone curious experience the app without needing a mission call or missionary-specific details. You can browse the full curriculum, try teaching practices, read through lessons, and see what your missionary will be working on — all with copy tailored to your perspective rather than a preparing missionary's.
Can I use Explorer mode to help my son or daughter prepare?
Absolutely. Explorer mode gives you full visibility into what the program covers — the 13 lessons, weekly tasks, teaching practice scenarios, and Book of Mormon reading plan. You can try the AI teaching simulations yourself to understand what your missionary will experience. Many parents find it helps them have better conversations about preparation.
Journaling
How does journaling work?
My Mission Path includes a built-in journal designed for spiritual reflection and testimony building. Each day, the app generates a personalized prompt based on your current lesson, recent entries, and practice sessions — encouraging you to record impressions from the Spirit, insights from scripture study, and moments of personal growth. You can also write freely without a prompt. All entries are searchable and can be exported as a PDF.
Are my journal entries private?
Yes. Your journal entries are stored securely and are only visible to you when you're logged in. They are never shared with other users. Your recent entries may be used to generate better daily prompts, but that processing happens on the server and the content is never exposed publicly.
Privacy & Data
What happens to my AI conversations?
AI conversations are processed in real-time and are not stored in full. After each session, a brief summary is saved so the AI can remember your progress and build on previous conversations. The full chat text is not retained on our servers. Conversations are processed by Google's Gemini AI — see our Privacy Policy for details on third-party data processing.
Can I delete my account and all my data?
Yes. Go to Settings and scroll to the bottom. The "Delete Account" option permanently removes your account and all associated data — tasks, journal entries, practice history, streaks, everything. This cannot be undone. You'll be asked to confirm your password before deletion.
Is the app safe for my teenager?
My Mission Path is designed for users 16 and older. AI conversations include built-in safety measures — if a user mentions self-harm or crisis situations, the app immediately provides the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline information. AI features can be toggled off entirely in Settings. There are no social features, no public profiles, and no way for users to interact with each other. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.
